Responsible Agent for Short Term Rentals in Summit County
Summit County Responsible Agent
As of December 18, 2018, Summit County regulations now have a Responsible Agent Requirement.
In Summary, owners of a short-term vacation rental properties must now designate a person or company to serve as the responsible agent. The responsible agent must be available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to respond to potential issues and violations related to the county code. The responsible agent must be able to respond to complaints within an hour of notification of complaint being sent by text or email.

For Summit County, short-term vacation rentals (STRs) are regulated to address any neighborhood impacts and safety issues. Summit County’s regulations for STRs are applied to properties within the unincorporated areas of Summit County.
These areas that require a Responsible Agent include:
- Keyston
- Wildernest
- Copper Mountain
- Dillon Valley
- Summit Cove
